WEDDING & CELEBRATION CAKES

 

All cakes are baked using the finest ingredients and usually layered with velvety smooth Swiss meringue buttercream.

 

The sponge cakes usually have 4 layers of cake per tier, layered with flavoured buttercream and sometimes fruit curds or preserves, or caramel. 

You have the following covering options:

  • fondant finish with a layer of chocolate ganache under the fondant icing

  • buttercream finish with a luscious coating of silky smooth Swiss meringue buttercream

  • ganache finish with a smooth milk, plain or white chocolate coating

  • 'semi-naked', finished with a thin coating of buttercream, often decorated with fresh fruit or flowers

 

Fruit cake is covered with marzipan and fondant icing.

Flavours

Below are some favourite flavours. If you cannot see your favourite flavour combination, just ask and I will do my best to provide it for you. 

In addition to the cake and buttercream flavours, there is the option to add a flavoured liqueur to your sponge or buttercream.

  • Vanilla - Classic vanilla sponge layered with vanilla buttercream

  • Victoria Sponge - Classic vanilla sponge layered with vanilla buttercream and seedless raspberry conserve

  • Luscious Lemon - Fragrant lemon sponge infused with lemon syrup and layered with lemon curd buttercream. Option to add limoncello to the syrup infusion.

  • Lemon & raspberry - Fragrant lemon sponge infused with lemon syrup and layered with raspberry buttercream.

  • Mimosa - Orange sponge layered with prosecco flavoured buttercream

  • Chocolate - A deliciously light chocolate sponge layered with velvety chocolate buttercream. For extra decadence, choose your favourite chocolate bar, e.g. Toblerone

  • Chocolate and peanut butter - a deliciously light chocolate sponge layered with peanut butter buttercream.

  • Red Velvet - Light chocolate and vanilla sponge coloured a rich red, layered with white chocolate buttercream.

  • Cherry chocolate - Rich chocolate sponge layered with cherry conserve and vanilla buttercream

  • Cappuccino - Coffee sponge layered with vanilla buttercream and chocolate sauce

  • Caramelatte - Coffee sponge layered with caramel buttercream

  • Sticky Toffee - Decadent sticky toffee sponge infused with caramel syrup and layered with salted caramel buttercream.

  • Coffee & caramel walnut - Coffee & walnut sponge infused with caramel syrup and layered with caramel or salted caramel buttercream. Option to add coffee liqueur to the caramel syrup infusion.

  • Carrot & pecan - Delicious carrot cake with pecans, layered with either cinnamon or lime buttercream (your choice)

  • Cherry & almond - Almond sponge layered with cherry conserve and vanilla buttercream

  • Rich, boozy fruit cake - Packed with fruit, our fruit cakes are matured for 3 months and regularly infused with brandy or sherry.

CUPCAKES

All cupcakes are baked using the finest ingredients and usually swirled with silky Swiss meringue buttercream.

For extra special occasions, the cupcakes can be decorated with fondant decorations.

ALLERGENS

I bake all my cakes gluten-free. If you do not require gluten-free, please do not be put off by this. Take a look at the feedback from previous happy customers and you will see that many people don't even realise the cake is gluten-free. If you're still unsure, come and see me at a wedding fair and try a cake sample, or order a taster box. Just get in touch.

Depending on the cake flavour required, many cakes can be done dairy-free.

Most of my cakes don't contain nuts, however my kitchen is not certified nut-free.

I do not currently offer an egg-free cake option.

 
 
PORTION GUIDE

This guide will help to give you an idea of the size of cake you might need for the number of guests at your event.

Fruit cake and finger portions of sponge cake are usually about 1" x 1" and dessert portions are usually about 1" x 2". 

Please note that these numbers are a guide only and actual portions will depend on who cuts the cake.

 
PRICE GUIDE

Most cakes are designed to your individual requirements, and therefore the total price will depend on the size of your cake and the level of decoration. I can provide you with a detailed quote once we have discussed your requirements for your special cake.

I have listed the starting price for a number of popular size options as both fondant finished or buttercream. This is for 4 layers of sponge in each tier, layered with Swiss meringue buttercream and conserves, curds, caramel etc. as appropriate, either covered in chocolate ganache and finished in fondant or covered in a layer of Swiss meringue buttercream.

Celebration cakes start at £60 for a 6" round buttercream cake.

Cupcakes with a swirl of buttercream start at £1.75 each.

Delivery is £10 within a 10 mile radius of Mountsorrel and £1 per mile outside of this radius.
